Data deposit into the ASEP repository

The ASEP repository has provided bibliographic records deposit for the results of scientifi c research at the Czech Academy of Sciences since 1993. In 2012, the database was expanded to include a repository in which full text documents are stored. Since 2017, ASEP also supports data records and data fi le storage. The bibliographic records of the results can be linked to metadata records so that the user gets not only the full text of a result, but also the data on which the result is based. Each dataset has its own description and metadata follows international standards. In the paper, we will introduce the repository workfl ow, describe dataset deposit and international standards used as well as different types of user interfaces.

First part is dedicated to introduction to open access policy at Academy of Science of the Czech Republic. After it are briefly introduced the basic principles of open access publishing and availability of information resources at the Academy of Science. Another part is focused on describing the advantages and disadvantages of open access publishing, trends in this movement and aspects of open access. The last part is devoted to the activities of CAS in the open access issue including institutional repository and „gold“ open access publishing fund.

Impact of funding reform on science in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the evaluation of science. It examines the benefits of science to the economy and society. It deals with the methods that are used for evaluation of science and examines their advantages and disadvantages. It uses macroeconomic indicators to evaluate science in the Czech Republic. It also discusses the reform that took place in the Czech Republic in the research and development and evaluation of science is one part of the reform. The thesis examines the benefits and shortcomings of the reform, including the impact of the reform on government expenditures on R&D. The final part examines the potential impact of the reform on the future work of the Archaeological Institute of the Academy of Sciences in Prague.
